noise after iac valve replacement

I just replaced my iac valve on mt '89 cause it was staling while idling. Now it runs great, but there is a loud humming/whinning noise all the time. it seems like something is working harder then its suppose to. thoughts?

are your rpms where they should be? and did you check all your vacuum lines?

if the iac is a remanufactured or used it is probably the valve itself. ford iac valves often make a loud humming noise.

I agree!

The throttle body housing could be gunked up w/ sludge /carbon . That sludge may have gotten on the new IAC's shaft causing it to stick. You could try having the throttle body where the IAC fits.
