Hey guys very new to this fourm thing but will give it a shot. We (my son and I) have a 1993 Eddie Buauer 5.8 we had no heat thru the summer months so no big deal was not over heating just no heat, we started with what i thought would be cheap and easy by replacing the thermostat, however being old and rusty we broke the head off one of the bolts, to make matters worse i then broke the carbide drill i was able to drill just above were the original ***** was and tapped it, i then elongated the housing hole to reach the new ***** hole location. after reassembling the thermostat and housing i thought i was working just find i ran the truck for about 40 minutes and no leaks, after 2 weeks i noticed a small puddle of anti-freeze in the drive way. the leak is coming from the thrmostat housing. Is the a way to weld the housing a little bigger then file it down to fit the block better so it will seat better and not leak.

Please any suggjestion would be great, i'm out of ideas.

yo T,

If you had a weld machine, it could be possibly done, but filing by hand to get a perfectly flat surface will be a challenge as well;

new housings are available

ensure it is applicable to 93 5.8 Bronco because that is the Ford Motorcraft part number that fits multiple applications. Shop locally for better price.

As SeattleBronco once advised; consider changing out the old Thermostat Housing Bolts to new ARP. About $4.00. Also consider changing out the old Thermostat Housing. $12.00 to $175.00. Next use Anti-seize on the bolt threads before re-installing. Always use anti-freeze as it is also a lubricant for the water pump.
