Hey gang, lookin for guidance.

I just purchased my first Bronco this past weekend ( 93, 4x4, 5 Speed manual, 5.0 ) and I am eager to get started on modifications. Its completely stock and I want to give it a lift - 3'' is what I am thinking since I am a beginner. Can you all tell me how to get started and where to go to get the best prices. Also, I figure I will want to beef up the tires a bit - what are the best tires to put on the Truck once I have it lifted?

My plan is to go 4 wheeling on some of the trails in Kentucky for beginners and work my way up to the good stuff! >:)

This site is great, look forward to talking with you all. :D/

I will be getting pics tomorrow....

Congrats on your purchase man. I just bought one last week and can tell you that so far mine has been a capable rig with just a 1" body lift and 32" AT's. Dont jack it up to far though (4" aint to bad) cause then you got to do alot of other stuff to the drive line as it will start to wear quicker. Also the Bronco has a very wide weelbase and is very hard to tip over unless you jack it to the moon (i.e. 10").

Yeah, broncos are a lot harder to tip than wranglers and cherokees. I would say just go with a 3 inch body lift and some 33 inch mud tires. That will give you a good start. Just make sure the body lift you get has bumper relocating brackets.

Welcome to the Zone! >

eBay is a good place to find lift kits.

In my opinion a body lift isn't the best way to lift a truck. it is however the cheapest way but the only ground clearance (GC) you will get is from the tires which with 33's will only be about 2 to 3 ".

You should really look at a suspension lift as a 4" will give you just about 4" of GC.

There is a guy that sells 4" suspension lifts for about $500 to $600 and a 6" is only around $50 to $100 more. I say go with the 6" as it will give you more GC and you can have bigger tires.

Just starting out you should find a club in your area that goes out as a group, that way someone will be there to help you if you need it.

Congrats on your purchase :)>- & don't forget to post some pics.

Rockliner, congrats on getting a Bronco!!! IF you want to install a 2"-3" body lift, look for Performance Accessories brand. The kit is basically poly or graphite blocks that fit on your body-to-frame mounts, with longer bolts. IF you can picture in your mind what happens when you raise the body off of the frame, you will see what other mods may be needed. Extending any shift linkage, like the tranny or t-case, extending the steering column or shaft, and trimming the bottom of the radiator fan shroud. The floor pan may also interfere with the t-case shift lever with a 3" lift. The bumpers will stay the same height as the frame, and it may look odd. Some applications include a bracket set to raise the front bumper, but you will probably be on your own to fabricate a set for the rear bumper.

Thanks Gang,

I think I will go with a suspension lift instead of a body lift. The shocks and springs are bad on this vehicle, I can tell when driving it so I need to replace those anyway and figure that would be a good time to buy some lifting components.

Shadow_D- you said there was a guy who sells suspension lifts, who is he and does he have a website?

Thanks for the input :D/

if you choose to only go w/ a 4" kit, you'll want to find one that has the ttb drop brackets that will work for 4 or 6" lifts. otherwise, you'll be looking for another set of brackets when you decide to go up to 6" instead of just 4".
