New owner of a 96 bronco I am wanting to put a 4 inch lift and possibly upgrade the wheels and tires … I would like some advice on what combinations work well
It has the smaller V8 … I would like for it to ride and drive well and look good … I live in Key West … so probably not much off roading … just want it to look good and drive well … it has a brand new set of 32 inch tires .. so I am considering lifting it and getting wheels and tires later … from the threads I’ve read it seems 33’s are probably the biggest tires with the smaller V8 … if anyone knows of a good shop in south Florida that would be helpful too … thanks for the help … this is gonna be fun !

That is a gorgeous truck! I'm a fan of stock height in Broncos but they do look good lifted! Be careful how far you go if you are after a nice ride and stability.
I'm sure lots of members will chime in with tons of info here,

This is coming from someone who has gone down this road before.

I bought a 1993 Bronco in 2005. I got the "big truck" fever ... and put a 6 inch lift ... re-geared her to 4:56.... full Detroit locker in the rear.. and she sits of 35" BFG mud terrain radials. This is about as extreme as you can get with the stock TTB ( twin traction beam) suspension and still be able to get a decent alignment. She is an absolute beast. With the lower gears she takes off like a "bat out ****" .... and with the full locker in the rear end ... I rarely ever have to put her in 4x4 to get out of some crazy holes.

The only thing missing was a stick shift. So I started looking for a donor to swap for the slush box. I found a 1996 Bronco with a 302 and a 5 speed during my search. I have owned both Broncos now for over a decade .... and the stock 1996 gets driven every day .... the 1993 beast gets cranked up once a week just for fun.

The heavily modified 1993 Bronco with a 5.8 and a E4OD ..... BARELY gets 9mpg
The stock 1996 Bronco with a 302 and a 5 speed ...... gets 15mpg

If you ever want to sell her. keep this in mind. I dropped over 10,000 in modifications to the 1993 ... and only replaced the clutch on the 1996. If I were to sell both today the 1996 would bring at least 5,000 more than the modified 1993.

Savvy consumers who purchase classic rides do not want Broncos modified for wheeling. Think of it this way .... do really think someone dropped 10,000 to modify their Bronco to be a capable trail rig ... and did not take it out in the woods and beat on it?

As it sits that is a 15,000 ride all day long ........... in another decade it will be a 35,000 ride all day long. That is 2,000 a year appreciation .... just to maintain where she is now.

LEAVE HER ALONE.

If you want to lift something and put big tires on it ..... get a 1996 Ford 150 (4x4) for around 5,000. In 10 years it might be worth 5,000 if your lucky .... and since the Bronco and the F150 are practically the exact same ride. You have spare parts.

In my overt view, Gen 5 Eddie's take more than others to get into the badassery club, and 32's unlifted will not cut it.

This example even looks to at least be leveled out, and it's still your third cousin Tod's rig.

Bronco TC, Only reason I'm replying is I have a '96 5.7 E4OD I bought last year in same E.B. Pacific Green that came with a 4" Tuff Country (made in Utah) not Rough Country (China) and Method 17" model 301 wheels. So I'm posting a few pics to give you an idea how it would look. With full length radius arms and 5100 Bilsteins it rides stiff. Maybe it needs new body mounts but it's not enough to be a priority. Nice looking ride. I've got a 96 xlt, 351, magna flow exhaust, 2.5" lift running on 32" BFG T/A2's. The exhaust made a big difference in torque when pulling the mountain hills in AZ. Something that you don't have in FL. The lift didn't change the ride that much but I would stay away from the Rough Country lift as the front end alignment has been a nightmare to try and maintain and my tires are on a constant rotation 3x more often than should be, and still chewing the outside of the tread. For me the 2.5" was all I wanted in a lift, extra ground clearance on the ass end without loosing the handling that comes with the extra height, especially if you ever pull a trailer. In my opinion, the stock height doesn't look good, they should have come out of the factory sitting at the 2.5" lift height. Everything is preference. Good luck.

I vote to keep the suspension stock height. I like my old cars to be like time machines so I like to try to get them back to the way they were born. It's a personal thing but I just love a new looking old car.

I pretty much bought it like this. It has a 6" skyjacker suspension liftkit, 3" body lift, I recently put some 35" bfg ko2s on her. I did upgrade the rear end to 4:56. The interior was done in the valley near the Mexican border, it's all leather. 351w bored out 30 over mild cam. Other comments are right though, get about 9mpg, but only work 12 miles from work so I don't mind. Was really just something I've always wanted. It rides pretty stiff and rough. Does turn a lot of heads though!
