I am currently working on replacing the intake manifold on my truck. This is a part I have never had experience replacing and thought I'd ask for a few tips. I want to be sure I get the correct part for my engine, I have been told the Edelbrock Performer is a great choice. Is there anything I should know before purchasing?

Would this be the correct intake manifold for my 302? http://www.bcbroncos.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=2337

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and any recommendations! Thanks

Hey PJ,

that manifold will fit if your engine is not a BOSS 302, and you are running no EGR.  It allows use of a square bore carb, not a spread bore (larger secondary than primary throttle bores.)

Good Luck

ALSO..,  you need to check the "height" of the new manifold.

The stock mani. sits low.  Most aft. market mani's are taller. This causes the hood not to close.

(won't clear the air filter)

I think the problem is amplified with aft. mkt. carbs.

BTW.., what precipitated the change..? ...
