I am looking at replacing my 302 with a 351W? I am going to put 400 heads on it but i am going to have to get water jackets machiend so the heads will match the motor. Also I am going to put the largest cam that i can without having to change the valve traine. This should give me alot of power HUH?

Good luck finding an intake for that combo . A 302 boss is a 302 block with 351C heads on it but it had a special intake for it . They never did that with a 351W so if your dead set on that you will be looking at custom making your own intake . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I dont think your combo is sound. I think you are a bit on the theory side of things. If I were you I would save the money on the custom intake (he is correct) and machine work on the heads. Step up to a set of GT 40 aluminums and put a huffer on that bad boy. If you have the largest cam you can find, a stock engine with those heads would not be very drivable. It seems to me that you would have a VERY small power curve. If you went with like a 492 bumpstick I think you would be safe. Be sure there is not a lot of valve overlap and put a set of 1.7 rockers on it. I THINK that would clear the pistons but you may have to go a bit smaller with the cam. In the event that the 492 worked you would have good power off of idle and would have a happy engine up into the 5000 range. Holly makes a blower for the carb guys and you can get a powerdyne for the EFI. Both setups by themselvs are under 3 grand so it seems a tad better then your idea.

It probably will work if you use enough of a stall covertor to get the engine in its RPM range . A cam with alot of lift like that is not good for a truck and Like I said before you are going to have to make an intake for it becasue NOBODY makes one for that combo its very hard to find one for the BOSS 302 there is a company that makes one but it was like $800 for that and it used to be a production motor but they never ever did that with a 351W :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
