new engine woes!

found a mystery fluid on top of the intake manifold. looked and felt a lot like oil, but where would it come from to get up top in front of the carb??? buddy suggested the pcv, but the line wasn't cracked and couldn't find any leaks down the side of the carb... at a lost!!

Breather hose would be the most likely place.

breather,or check the valvecover gaskt's, maybe oil is leaking out the frt. intake gaskt. & blowing up till it rests in the reseces infrt. off the carb, look for clean trails from those areas to where it is sitting. >-

Check the intake manifold bolts, too. But the puddling is most likely from the valve covers leaking.
