Just installed a 351 in my '77. Bought an MSD 6-AL-2 with Pro-Billet distributor. I basically have been chopping as much of the wiring harness as possible to clean up the nest under the hood. The main harness that went to the old distributor has been removed. I by-passed the nuetral safety, and everything runs fine and works...except the alternator. Is there wiring that went from the voltage regulator to the main harness that I removed to make it not complete a circuit and not charge? Is there a jumper I can install on the voltage regulator to keep all things charging from the alternator up front? It seems like I can but have not found what I'm looking for yet. Looking for some help, hopefully someone has done this. On the driver side there is 2 plugs on engine side of firewall. One went to the control box for the old distributor, the other is a square female plug with 4 wires. 3 of them are hot while it is running. I have a feeling I need to do something with the square one? Anyone???

Yes, there is a wire that is necessary that you probably removed. Attached is a couple of an 83 diagram that should help, sorry I don't have one for your truck but if hooked up the same it will work.

Good luck,

:)>-
