Me and my friend had build a 82 H.O. block up for his mustang but scrapped that project. So i took the engine. Its a 302 bored .30 over. port/polished heads. and cam.

we had though it was running lean so we tossed in a fuel pressure regulator. we put it to roughly 26-28lbs with throttle. though now it is running a little rougher than before. Also when the truck is warm i have a hard time starting it. i tossed in a high torque starter, could it be do to the fact of the my yellow top battery and not enough CCA'S? and what is the ideal fuel pressure for my engine?

Try shielding the starter from the exhaust. It is probably getting hot which caused them to turn over slow.

Is it EFI or carbed?

Good luck,

:)>-

What are the cam specs? I'm guessing that you're running speed density being it's a 90 modle. If the cam is to big then the motor will run horrible unless you have a chip to "tune" the engine. I can't tell you what to have your fuel pressure at but I believe stock is 37#'s and hopefully someone can tell me I'm right or wrong on that one. Also, make sure your timing is set correctly and I can't remember for the life of me what it needs to be. If you have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator then to make it run a little smother for now (and I wouldn't recomend this for long) bump your fuel pressure up for a little and that will "help" it a bit. The draw back to that is the fuel you'll litterally be waisting. I would recomend either swapping back on the carb or getting a custom chip burnt for your specs. That's what I'll be doing in the near future and it'll run around $400 give or take. Hope this helped a little...
