I put a centech kit into my 74 a while back. As I remember the purple starter wires were giving me a little trouble too. As I remember there are two starter wires to choose from. What I did was run the purple wire labelled starter that came out of the loom ont he passenger side closest to the firewall down to the neutral safety switch and then back up to the start side fo the solenoid. The reverse lights are on that safety switch too but I can't remember what color they were. If you get a power meter and cycle the mechanism through all the gears you should be able to find the one that is the safety switch.anybody put in a centech wiring harness in a early bronco?Having trouble following instructions to hook up neutral safety switch.

Thanks for the reply, got the switch to work but keep blowing the fuse labled backup lights/instruments.I guess I'll redo all of my grounds.Instuments don't work and left rear turn signal doesn't work. What a pain.I put a centech kit into my 74 a while back. I can't remember what I did with the second starter wire though.

Grounds, Grounds, Grounds man. That is all I can say about the fuse issue. Your safety/reverse switch could be the problem why the reverse lights aren't working. I had to replace mine after the whole thing fried the wires. Those things have a shelf life. I think thirty years is pretty good though for anything electric. Also remember that there is an adjustment that needs to be made to the switch so that the switch is activated when the shifter is in reverse for the lights or start when it's in neutral or reverse. that little hole in the side needs to be lined up with the hole inside the switch using a small allen wrench while the shifter is in neutral. Just leave the two bolts that hold the switch off while you get the holes to line up and then put them in. Good luck! Thanks for the reply, got the switch to work but keep blowing the fuse labled backup lights/instruments.I guess I'll redo all of my grounds.Instuments don't work and left rear turn signal doesn't work. What a pain.

I had similar problems when I installed my Centech kit. I ended up calling Tom's Bronco and literally just asked what color wire goes where, and it worked the first time. In fact I did that for alot of things on the wiring kit. The directions are not very clear throughout.anybody put in a centech wiring harness in a early bronco?Having trouble following instructions to hook up neutral safety switch.

Yes it wasn't that bad as long as you don't continue to try to work on it after you throw the first wrench accross the garage.now brake lights and horn are not working.Going to replace brake switch on pedal.Horn wiring has 2 options, one for a relay and one for straight hook up to horn.Have to wire up without relay and try again.Otherwise, replacing harness is a breeze.
