Okay-our 4x4 club is going out on Sunday. I have some stuff I need to fix before then-I have a list and any and all help from you guys would be sweet. Thanks in advance :)>-

A) 4LO- When I try to engage 4lo the light just blinks at me...obviously not working. Regular 4x4 works-I have the push button 4x4 with auto hubs...any ideas?

B ) What size of bolts are used in an '89 F250's 460 for the Exhaust manifolds. When the exhaust shop put these on they stripped one of the bolts and left three out  . I only have about an inch and a half to work with so I think I'm gonna come at her from the side.

C) What size bolts are used to bolt the Skid plate into place?

D) How big of a pain in the **** is it to remove the driver's side front inner fender?

E) I have an exhaust leak from a blown manifold gasket...could this cause my backfiring?

F) I need a good way to tighten, and keep tight, my exhaust ****** on my driver's side...she gets loose real easy and I am worried about cracking the pipe while tightening it on the Collector.

I WILL POST PICS of the weekend too. Thanks y'all. :D/

Quite possibly a relay, solenoid or a fuse, I would start there.

No idea, but a simple way to tell, is to remove an existing bolt.

Factory skid plate or aftermarket?

D) How big of a pain in the **** is it to remove the driver's side front inner fender?

A big pita if its anything like mine (82).Quite a big chunk of plastic to get out of such a small hole :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

E) I have an exhaust leak from a blown manifold gasket...could this cause my backfiring?

It will cause a pffft pfft noise, but as for loud backfiring, no.

Too rich, not burning fuel completely, dead cylinder, basic tune up, timing.. many things can cause a backfire, but an exhaust leak, never ran across that doing it, just pffting noises.

F) I need a good way to tighten, and keep tight, my exhaust ****** on my driver's side...she gets loose real easy and I am worried about cracking the pipe while tightening it on the Collector.

Have you considered safety wiring the bolts?

Any good speed shop might carry the wire and the pliers for it.

Basically, you tighten the nuts/bolts and drill a small hole through them, run a leg of wire through the hole twisting it together with a second wire till you have made it through all the holes in all the nuts/bolts.

Very similar to holding it all together with a cotter pin.

You way be able to make some keepers for the nuts also from heavy guage sheet metal. Something like a washer with a long leg. The bolt goes through the washer, tighten the nut and then fold the leg over the ****** and tightly bend it onto the nut (dam close to exhaust bolt keepers in function)

It is a factory skid plate-

As for the 4lo- pardon me while I sound stupid-where would I find the relay or solenoid? I have never worked on my transfer case. I know the fuse is good, so I'll look at the others.

I'll try the timing on the backfire. Thanks BigNasty. I appreciate the speedy reply, take care man and again-that engine of yours is lookin sweet! B)

EVERYONE ELSES COMMENTS OR IDEAS ARE MUCH APPRECIATED ALSO.

I can't find my bronco book... but will guess that the skid plate is probably held on with clips and body bolts, close in size to the hood bolts and clips.

If aftermarket I woulda said drill holes and bolt up with 5/16 shank bolts :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

And I have no idea where the solenoid etc is but if there are any wires going to the transfer case, it has to be close :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

And TY :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> about the engine :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
