Alright yall, I need some help on this one. I've got a 84 bronco with 351w, c6, and np208. I need to remove my transfer case because my high gear is broken and doesn't move the driveshafts at all. It happened when traveling on the interstate doin about 80, hit a bump, something snapped and metal was grinding in my xfer case. 2hi and 4hi resulted in the same sound and no movement of the truck, but 4lo worked just fine. Anyhow I got the 6 bolts out that hold the case to the tranny adapter housing, removed the front and rear driveshafts, shift linkage, speedo cable, and wire that plugs on top of xfer case I'm guessing is for the 4x4 dash light. How do you seperate the case from the tranny adapter housing? I saw the lip on the t-case on the bottom and to the right when looking at it from the rear that I can pry on. I tryed prying with a crow bar against the tranny crossmember using all my weight, tapping around the seal with a hammer, and even used a jack under different locations but everytime it just lifted the truck up in the air. Can someone please shed some light on my problem? Thanks in advance for any input :)>-

first make sure everything is unhooked. then this may sound strange but it works. (needed to do it to remove my np205 from f250) hook a chain around your frame above the rear axle if possible. hook short piece of chain to transfer case( rear output) then hook a set of comelongs between them put something undercase to catch it. get behind rear axle and use the comelongs as a winch to remove the the case. hope this helps :)>-

I recently pulled the NP208 out of my 84 Bronco. I used a transmission jack under the t-case, and placed a couple of 2x4 blocks under the t-case and on top of the jack. I then chained the t-case to the jack and worked it towards the rear to separate it from the C-6. You can hammer all day long on the jack or wood blocks rather than buggering up the t-case. The case only wieghs about 70 pounds, and I removed the one from the 88 by just rotating it so the long end points downward, and you can pull or push from under the transmission. It's much easier with the jack.

Well, tomorrow turned out to be this past weekend. Anyhow, I got it off with the come-a-long. I hooked a chain around the rear axle and the other end around and behind the t-case kind of diagonaly. The comalong was hooked right beside the yoke on t-case so it's pulling as straight in line as possible and the other hook on the chain as high up on the rear axle as possible up over the sway bar. A couple good cranks, wait for it-BANG, it came right off. Gotta remove the heat shield to rotate it down though. Thanks to all who replied :)>-
