i drove to work and everything was fine.

(edit) the tone im talking about is the tone ur truck makes when the door is open or u leaver u lights on and pull the key out. nothing to do with the horn lol (/edit)

i get in the car and the beep tone doesnt stop even after both doors are shut! beeped all the way home. parked it and went to the store and it still beeped. drove it agin a while ago and still beeps. after the truck is started, none of the warning lights stay lit... i dont think anything changed since i was at work.. hmm.

5.3L full size 1990

if nothing else, how can i stop the tone? it was making me go crazy after about 8 miles!

after i pull the key out, the beeping finally stops!

is it tryin to tell me its throwing codes or what?!

Are your interior lights staying on as well? Bad door-jamb switch will cause beeping and the dome-lights to stay on. And, like Seabronc said, what year is the truck? That little bit of info makes a helpfull answer much easier.

I don't remember what year they started this, but on most of the later models, there is a small sensor where the lock cylinder slides into the column. If you pop the cylinder out, detach it from the base, it should stop. If not you can try following the sound to the obnoxious ringer box and unplug it. If i remember right its tucked up under the dash over the transmission tunnel.

its a 1990. the lights turn off -the door switch is fine. its strange huh? i think it has something to do with the steering column. like it doesnt realize i put it in park or that the key has been turned over or something.

no actually this is the first car ive owned where the key stays in. il try shoving the key in harder or something. i might have messed up the ignigtion hole by using a copy i had made. it never worked so i tried to make it work and i might have messed it up lol

if its a beeping sound then it is suspected to be the air bag control module, the beeping tone sounds when the warning lamp burns out,,,,, dose the air bag lamp come on and prover out, with key on??

yo!

"the buzzer is directly to the right of the steering colum under the dashboard. it is a white box about 3X1X1/2 inches; if you have a higer trim package (XLT or higher there is a "reminder package" ... If you are having trouble with it not working or working intermittently then it's probably the tumbler. (the piece the key goes into)."
