ok.. so i have a 1988 fullsize ford bronco and it ran fine i drove to the store and back shut it off and it would not turn back on.. the ignition had wore out it didn't make the sound that it would normally make to start the truck... and there was no tension on the key when i turned it in the ignition. so i pulled the ignition out and bought a new one and put it in and it still won't start my truck..still no sound..like it's gonna start nothing... so i poped the hood arked the syloniod and started thet truck that way and it ran sayed idled and when i put it in reverse it would drive but everytime i put it in drive it shuts off automatically and dies... what is the problem does anyone know????

What did you actually replace?

The Key Switch or the Ignition switch located on the top of the steering column under the dash?

The no tension could be a broken linkage between the key switch and the ignition switch or if it starts with the key in the run position, it could be the spring in the ignition switch. Just guessi9ng based on your input, you may need to replace the ignition switch and align it. If so, here is the alignment procedure : http://broncozone.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7243

Good luck,
