Hello all,

I have a '94 Bronco 5.8L and am having some bad vibration happening at low rpm's - seems to smooth out when rpm's get above 2000. I was told one possible cause could be the motor mounts. Any tips on replacing these myself?

The vibration seems to be coming from the front of the vehicle, not rear where the u-joints are for the rear wheel drive. Any other things I should check for the vibration?

All help is Appreciated!

Thanks!

D

I replaced the motor mounts in my '90 w/ a 5.0. You can do it yourself in probably a good afternoon. I got an engine hoist and picked it up off the mounts and replaced them. You will probably have to take off the upper part of the engine(intake, fuel rail, anything that could be damaged by the chain when hoisting up the engine). And then just replace them. I got my motor mounts from Autozone for about $25 a piece and they have a lifetime warranty.

Thanks for the help! I am going to try jacking up the engine (not using engine hoist). I jacked it up a few months back to replace the oil pan gasket.

My fingers are crossed.

i just replaced mine about two months ago. because the engine was moving sideto side too much while running. their was no prominate vibration. but about a year ago i had a hudge vibration and it turned out to be the transfer case mount. but that would be coming from the "back" of the truck. it could also be the fan clutch. see if it wiggles around on the shaft. if any play, replace let us know :)>-

Doubt it's a motor mount...one check is to back-up while holding brake pressure. you will feel eng. lurch if mount is bad.

Wheel bearings, idler pullies, etc. A bad rear u-joint can fool you as to vib. location, esp., if it's in the cardian joint.
