my coolant nightmare continues. for some reason my lower radiator hose keeps slipping where it meets the water pump- causing coolant to leak. i've tried 3 different clamps tightened them tight as **** with a socket instead of a screwsriver, and it'll be fine for a couple days then the hose slips down just enough to start leaking again. it is the correct hose.

any ideas on how to stop it from happening? i thought i was going nuts and now i've finally figured out what causes the leak. but for the life of me cannot figure out how t stop it from happening again. i know it's a weird problem.

WELL 2 THINGS I WOULD DO FIRST CLEAN END OF WATER PUMP AND HOSE MEAT MAKE SURE NO OIL OR GREASE OR CORROSION IS ON IT AND CLEAN THE HOSE REAL GOOD.. ALSO HAVE YOU FLUSHED YOUR SYSTEM THE ONLY THING I CAN THINK OF IS YOUR SYSTEM IS REALLY CLOOGIN UP CAUSING PRESSURE TO BUILD UP PUSHING THE HOSE OFF... IF I WERE YOU I WOULD PRESSURE CHECK EACH PART OF YOUR COOLING SYSTEM HEATER CORE WATER PUMP REPLACE THERMASTAT. AND CHECK RADIATOR.. ONE PROBLEM I HAD IS WHERE THE COOLING LINES FROM THE THROTTLE BODY ENTER THE RADIATOR AND THE OVERFLOW ******* WERE CLOGGED CREATINGPRESSURE ON THE SYSTEM.. BLEW ONE OF THE HOSES.. GOOD LUCK

agree with bully bob if its a presure issue then a hose would blow. The hose if correct, is a tight fit and not that easy to get on the pump if it "slides right on" then :

a.) you have a bad hose

b.) the water pump ****** is caked with coolant residue and not sealing allowing it to shoot off because the hose is not secured beyond the ******

c.) or the pump is corroded and the flare on the ****** is worn down not holding against the clamps

it sounds like the ****** is bad. I had really bad pressure on mine once and it blew a hole in the middle of the hose. freaked me out. I just had to watch my bronc bleed to death. It was horrible.

yeah i guess i'll change out the pump. i replaced everything else on the entire cooling system EXCEPT the pump. all hoses, clamps, heater core, water outlet and thermo. the radiator is 3 months old. i know the system is clean and i flushed in case. so here goes a new waterpump.

check the nip first. if you don't have to buy one, don't I am pretty sure that's it but it could be something else. I mean it sounds like you have covered EVERYTHING else. good luck

hey- i'm not a flake and i will check in when i have time to report results.

i'm working pretty long hours developing a few web sites right now so i can't be glued to this site 24/7. when you spend an average of 18 hours a day in front of a pc or mac screen you have to take a breather now and then- it really starts to get to you and can make you weird. plus i redid my headliner myself over the weekend. came out pretty good. i'll post pics when i have some time.

the pump is ok for now. it could probably use a replacement eventually though just for my peace of mind. but i'd like to hold off till they pull the engine and rebuild it so they can just install a new one for me while it's out. we'll see if it works out that way thouh. the way the clamp was on there it wouldn't totally tighten. i loosened it, and shifted it and tightend it nice and tight with a socket. that was last sunday and the hose hasn't slipped at all or spilled a drop yet.

now onto shocks, mirrors, bumpers, tire carrier and carpet.

yep i need chrome front bumper especially- does it have impact strip? or at least holes for strip?. i could use a rear bumper if it's chrome xlt and straight. for the tire carrier- i need the support (part that bolts to the tailgate that the latch catches up top), and any mounting stuff that keeps the tire on the carrier. the mounting plate and nuts i guess. shoot me a PM w/ some prices and maybe some info or pics on condition. looking to buy within 7-10 days. shipping to 91606.

i'll paste this into a PM for you as well.

but these are the parts on the carrier i need i you are willing to part it out a bit. other than that i have the whole thing:

sorry i've been swamped at work.

how heavy are the support and the mounting assembly (plate and nuts)? if they're not too bad i would think wrap in newspaper and ship priority mail for like $5.00 if you email me an address i'll send you a money order for postage and gas money. that would be great! also if you have any pics of the bumpers pm me and we can talk about those as well.

went to check the parts and am missing the latch that is out side the gat seems my son put the wrong pile into the one that was hauled for scrap but do have the rest (inside bracket tire carrier and hinges with pins)

it is pretty much a piece of heavy gauge sheet metal at the most would guess a pound and the bumpers are for a 93 and up body the rear one is rusting from the back (also just found out) and the front won't fit on the older body without some extensive mod for the brackets

does any one know how to ship c.o.d as it would be easier to do that just get shipping rate and drop it in the mail and you pay it when it arrives could be cheaper and faster
