Have a problem with the engine once it gets warmed up well. Wants to idle to low, like about 500 rpms. Any input on best way to adjust the idle. Has the 302 EFI.

Mine has the same idle, but it was after I removed the muffler, so I think its a back pressure issue.

First, try a Self Test for trouble codes, post them here.

or ask Auto Zone to ck it w/scanner if one is close-by to you

guessing... if Seft Test pulls up 121-125 Codes, most likely it is faulty Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)

TPS Test by Big Ric!! (loosen the 2 Phillips screws until voltage is less than 1.0 volts @ idle (.97 volts)

Sensor, Throttle Position (TPS) Testing, Operation, etc., Ford 4.9, 5.0, 5.8 Source: by AutoZone.com note that they do Not include the Table!

The 1990 Broncos DON'T have OBD2. You can't put a scanner on it!
right, no OBD II on 90...but.............................. the self test is for that Year and there are scanners for EEC IV

such as:

"...Actron's EEC-IV code scanner sells for around $30 at your local auto parts store and comes with complete instructions and code listings. You simply plug the code scanner into the EEC-IV test connector and the EEC-IV test connector's ground. That is all that needs to be done to set up the EEC-IV for testing using a commercial code scanner..."

http://www.corral.net/tech/maintenance/eecivtest.html#three

they DIY test is cheaper of course!

Since it is unsafe to leave the FOB in an NTV, I will have to take a HMMWV on MSR Tampa to get to BIAP and catch a C130 to go on R&R in CONUS next month. :))

That's last one, I promise. ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Is the EEC test any more accurate. I expierence with OBD II and have done most training on it.

some background for you;

1987 - 1995 Bronco (trucks, etc.) has EEC-IV - the processor is ok and good enough for DIY troubleshooting and does not need the $80.00 and up OBD II Code Scanner; can DIY with a section of wire or multimeter

1996 Bronco has EEC-V (OBDII) -

by Ford..."The EEC-V System is the fifth and newest generation of Ford

i have a 351W in mine and it idled at about 7-800 till i removed the cat and then dropped to 500. i dont have an issue with it unless it gets way to cold as it has recently then it tends to stall out.
