I need a guestion anwsered about the harmonic balancer. I am going to look at a 1985 Bronco tomorrow afternoon her in Florida. The owner was asking $800.00 but due to the city getting on his case about a parked vehicle in his driveway without a tag he has dropped the price down to $500.00 I talked with the owner over the phone you know how that is! and he says the only thing wrong with the Bronco is the starter seleniod is burned out and the rubber in the HARMONIC BALANCER in dry rotted and coming out causing the motor to vibrate. I plan on going to look at the vehicle taking a starter seleniod with me to start the motor and check out the Bronco. My question is if the vehicle checkes out okay and I do find that the Bronco vibrates and that its pretty clear that its the Harmonic Balancer could I get away with replacing it. Is so, I could come out with a pretty good Bronce with a rebuilt 351 within the past year and a half. It appears that they used the same harmonic balancer when the motor was rebuilt from what the owner has said and again thats over the phone. But I am sick of going to look at 1986 - 1985 Bronco's over the past few days to find they are ragged out and headed to the junk yard. This Bronco is said to have only some minor surface rust in a FEW SPOTS and new 33 tires and Alu. Wheels. I don't care about surface rust because I plan on painting it Green for the woods in North Fla. and South GA. Also I have never owned a Ford/Bronco only Jeeps and Chevy Blazers (1970 - 1972) models the best for blazers. Hower I really like the look and power tran of the Ford Bronco.

You dont have to pull the motor to replace the harmonic balancer . You need to take the belts off anf the crank pulley which should be 4 9/16 bolts , Then you remove the center retaining bolt which is 15/16 and whne you take the bolt out make shure you remove the big washer in there . Then you take your harmonic balancer puller ( cheap at parts store ) and bolt it on and remove the harmonic balancer then just replace it with one for a 351 make sure its not for a 302 as they are weighted different . Once you have all the tools shouldnt take you more than an hour or so to do . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Well I never made it over to check out the 1986 Bronco, but stopped by to check out a 1989 Bronce that I saw for sell for $2500. This one is nice "NO RUST" with new tires and wheels. It has all new A/C just installed in Feb. 05 which is nice hear in Florida. It has a leak in the Valve covers that I will fix first thing in the morning as soon as the part store opens. Not sure what most Bronco owers perfer but I like manual locking hubs which this bronco has with no eletric push buttons on the dash for four wheel drive which I have seen. I checked out the four wheel drive and it engages and disengages fine. So far okay. As a cross over Chevy Blazer owner to Bronco's, I like what I see in the Bronco but I am sure I will have some repaires in the future and will look foreward to some imput. The first thing I did when I drove it home tonight was to remove the "Old Timer Running Boards" I like a clean looking vehicle.
