limited slip

how do i figure out if my front differential has limited slip carrier or open? without pulling it apart of course!!! i know how to check the rear but different config?

Welcome to the Zone > . Post a few pictures when you get a chance we'd like to :-B them.

Look at the axle code on the safety compliance sticker located on the driver side rear door post. If it is 3 characters ending with a 2 then it is limited slip or atleast was shipped from the factory with one. If it is 2 characters then it is not, the (2) is the key. Also there should be a tag attached to one of the bolts on the differential that will have a number like 3L55 or 4L11, the L is for limited slip.

jack up the front, support it with jackstands, and spin the front tires. see how they rotate. if they spin in the same direction, you probably have the limited slip. if they spin oppositely, your open
