I'm getting a strange noise coming from the drivers front when I hit washboard bumps... sounds almost like a rock stuck in a hubcap but that's not the problem - I looked. I can't replicate the noise by pounding on anything under there. No performance difference so far, but I can't figure out what it is and it's bugging the crap out of me. It only happens on fairly decent size bumps. Any ideas on what to check from the brain trust?

two things to check that i can think of, one the pockets in the door, any loose change? secondly the dust shroud behind the rotor could be rusting to the point of hitting the rotor at times.

Does it happen in 2 and 4 wheel drive? I had a rattling noise and it was those crappy auto locking hubs going out. I noticed that if 4x4 was engaged it didn't make the noise.

It happens in 2 and 4 wheel drive. It could be the hub, however. I was unable to duplicate the noise by banging on things, so I'll look there. Thanks for the post.
