Why is it that if I want a printed version of the catalog from Jeff's Bronco Graveyard I have to give them my vehicle VIN? I will pick the year catalogue I need, so why do they need that information?

I tried asking through email but got no reply. Anyone else ever ask them why they want your VIN and get a sensible answer answer from them? Don't bother with the 'big brother' jokes because I work for 'big brother' and see no reason for them to need to know. ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I don't know, it just seems very strange to me.

I wouldn't think so, not on mine. I own an 84' and the catalog goes from 80 - UP. If they were year specific I could see them needing it but there are so many years and options covered by that one catalog I don't see how it could make a difference.

Maybe they are keeping their eyes open for specific vehicles. Hmmmmm

Send them one off a car and see what catalog you get.

I'm not sure why.

I know that they've never asked me and I've ordered from them a half dozen times. I've been there also, it's a little place. The "store" is nothing more than 3 or 4 guys answering phones. No real products for sale to browse through. I wouldn't think that they're a very complicated operation. When you want something, they go get it from the back for you. It's a little office hooked onto a giant pole barn.

They usually know their stuff, though. That's really strange. I'd be curious how many they've asked that of.

I've heard that it's just a way to make sure that you have one, or at least are putting the effort into getting a catalog. They probably cost a good bit of money to make, and this way they don't have some kid ordering one for each of his 100 closest friends???

It's to prove that you own a bronco, I think years ago they had a lot of people ordering catalogs who didn't own a bronco even and they were having to send out tons of catalogs every day... also people who own an early bronco would just get all 3 of them for fun which gets expensive when your sending free catalogs. The VIN is not saved, just goes to Mark in an email to show ownership.

I might ask him if we still care about that so we can take off that requirement.

That makes sense. I don't mind sending it but when I was about to order a catalog I noticed I needed my VIN which seemed strange. For the most part I use the online one but recently I decided to go for a printed one.

Thanks Dana for the clear-up.
