Hi I have an 81 bronco with a 96 351 recently it has begun to run rough and burn a lot of oil with no real pattern, runs fine somedays and burns oil the next. I have removed the oil filler cap to check for blow by and found None. And of course it wont burn any oil when there is someone present who knows more about engines than I do. any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. my next plan of action is to check the spark plugs.

Thanks

Does it only burn oil when you get it up to full operating temperature...and run it for a while? A cracked cylinder, or head that lets oil by after it's had a chance to expand and contract might do that. Just a thought.
