Help! I am in the process of removing my Intake Man. and Valve Covers to replace the gasket, Clean and paint. Well I am having a problem removing the Intake because I didn't KNOW that there was a star type ***** on the left side of the intake in the middle. DOH!!*&^%$% It's friday night and to late to head to the parts store plus I don't know what size tool to buy. Could someone please tell me what size tool I need to buy to get this job done. Will head out in the morning to buy it and complete the job.

That ***** requires a TORX-style screwdriver or tool. You can get a set of different sizes from T-5 up to T-50 that fit on a 3/8" -drive wratchet. Not sure on the size for this bolt (T-15 or T-20), but the other sizes will come in handy for working on your Bronco. Cost is about $10-$15 for the set. There are different styles, so try to match up the pattern on the bolt head. It's a regular or normal 6-point star, while some of the others are tamper-proof or different patterns. I hate driving back to the parts store 3 or 4 times.

on my 95 the center intake bolt was a t-40 but a t-30 will work in a pinch...(there is no t-35) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

oh and use 1/4 inch drive 3/8 is too big to fit between the intake runners :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Thanks for all the suggestion. I started Fir. and got it all back together Sat. around noon. I put a normal bolt back in the center location it worked better. My valve gaskets were totally gone on the left side which was leaking pretty bad. The right side looked like burnt toast but wasn't leaking. Both gasket just broke off in my hands, cleaned both up and painted Ford Blue along with the intake. I was pretty happy how the inside of the vavle covers looked had a nice broze tone with no sludge build up inside or on the vavles at all it Looked really clean. Thinking of dropping the oil pan in December and checking and changing the oil pump just to be safe. I also changed out the PVC Valve just to be safe plus it looked pretty used. Thanks agin!!

It hurt!! The worst part was trying to lean over at the same time while trying to hold the intake with one hand and trying to hold myself up putting it back on. And then dropping the *&^%$ little valve cover bolts on the ground and losing one of them. Had to go the the "U-Pull-It" to get another one. But I live three miles down the road from it and was no big deal. Got one off a F-150 was upset they only had one 1986 Bronco with the tranny and transfer case already removed and setting in the back. I was tempted to buy them for spare parts just in case. Poor thing was totaled with the roof crushed.

the intake has a center bolt that uses a torx ratchets. It can be seen from the opening in the center. Have a magnetic recovery tool ready because the torx may fall off or the bolt will drop. I've lost both the both and two torx sockets and recovered one torx and the bolt. Take it slow and be careful.

If you work as a mechanic chevy transmission bracket bolts require a T35 Torx. I haven't found any need on a Ford yet but purchased a bit.
