hey there. My bronco is a 96 xl. the interior doesn't have the molded plastic interior panels like xlt's and edddie bauer models do. I think this is part of the reason my truck seems to be colder inside than outside when i get in it in the mornings. This is not really a problem for myself but i have 2 little girls and sometimes i can't use my wifes vehicle to take them to school. So I was wondering if anybody could give me ideas about how to insulate it better. And I also have the vinyl floors. I'm guessing this doesn't help either as compared to having carpet. Any help is greatly apreciated, and thank u in advance.

There is not that much insulation in any version. That feeling is similar to what you get when building a new house in the winter, you have to open the windows to warm the place up. As far as insulation, there is quite a bit that you can do which will also help quiet down the road noise. LMC truck offers a pretty good floor insulation and noise dampening package. I have also added noise dampening pads on any surface that tends to vibrate with exhaust and road noise, like door skins, floor boards, rear wheel wells, the internal wall of the rear tub, cab roof, cap, etc. Insulation has the advantage of keeping heat outside in the summer and inside in the winter. Plus it also reduces the time to heat or cool the inside of the vehicle. I use 1/2 " heavy duty closed foam insulation where it will fit like the tub walls and a thinner version in other areas like cab and cap roof, and the LMC package on the floors. Also you may need to replace the seals and adjust doors. It all depends on what you want, some people like lots of noise. I personally am over that stage of life and have become fond of hearing myself think  or even just hearing with what I have got left :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> .

Good luck,

thx for the info seabronc. I'm gonna check out that insulation in LMC. Where did you get that other foam you used to insulate your truck? I would like to make it a little quieter as well. When on the highway we have to yell at each other to be able to hear each other. Also my interior panels are made out of cardboard. Do you think if i get the plastic panels it will help?

I think LMC Truck cqarries that foam,if not try JC Whitney. I think I got it from JCW, originally used the same thing from them on a van which made a world of difference. Plastic panels probably won't hurt, but they don't really have any real sound deadening or insulation value. Make sure to check the door seals and the rear tailgate seal, especially the bottom. A lot of road noise comes in through gaps in the seals.

Good luck,

:)>-
