I have a 95 Bronco that will turn over, but won't start. I don't hear the pump when I turn the key on now. Is there a way to replace the pump without dropping the tank? Any help would be appreciated!!! Thanks

Before dropping the tank determine that the pump is indeed bad. Check the fuel pump relay and the inertia switch. You should also be able to reach up and disconnect the wiring to the pump on top of the tank. Verify you get 12 volts there. (You will have to use a paperclip to jump the pins on the test plug) Or run a hotwire from the battery to the pump and see if it works.

thats what I figured, but wanted to check before I dropped the tank. Of course there's 30 gallons of gas in it too. Thanks for help, I'll start today!

you wil most likely have to disconnect the fuel filler so drop the tank onto jack and lower onto stands then syphen.

Ok, Sunday, I worked on my truck. There was 30 gallons of gas in the tank, so I decided to try carefully cutting a hole in the bed above the tank. I drilled holes at the corners and then used the shortest jigsaw blade I could find(18 tpi so no sparks were made. Worked like a dream. But then I could not budge the pump retaining ring. Decided to give up and take to a shop, but for some reason tried to start it once more. Low and behold, the pump whirred to life when I turned the key and started right up. Worked great until today. I took my hole patch up and tapped on the top of the pump with a rubber mallet and tried starting. Alive again!!!. But have had to do that several times now today. Is this a bad pump, or an electrical problem....Please help!?!?!?!?!

my truck died a few months ago turned out the fuel pump was replace in 98 and who ever did it cut the harness to install a new end (if u get a new pump from a ford dealer u will need this up-dated harness) they used but-connectors and didn't water proof them  . well several years later good old' capecod salt air and water did it's thing and rusted the contacts till they broke... does sound like the fuel pump though

good luck on what u find

:)>-
