I'm glad that you asked before spending $40 on it.

I could go on for an hour on similar after market products, but would rather watch a firelog.

UNless one is spraying water on the cooling coils as air passes over it, the fuel passing through the coils will not get any cooler than the ambient air. Since the gasoline sitting in your tank is in the shade, it should be no hotter than the ambient air. Just as an aside, if this unit is placed close to the carburetor, I.E. in the engine compartment, (where it gets real real HOT) then this cooler is likely to heat up your fuel.

Regarding the effectiveness of similar products.. caveat emptor.. let the buyer beware!

Like Joe said, that fuel cooler won't do Jack. It used to be, waaay back in the day, that a fuel cooler would help ward off vapor lock but but I doubt that anyone born after 1980 even knows what the term means. As far as fuel injected vehicles go it's a waste of your $$$$

If you want you could set something up with thermo-electric coolers, most of them run on 12volts, along with a couple copper water blocks meant for computer use (might need to run a few in parallel to not cause a restriction), you'd also need some way to keep the hot side of the TEC cool, heatsinks I guess, no need for a fan plenty of air moving when you're driving. I guess you could make a reasonably effective rig for 50 bucks. I'm not sure how much benefit you would get though keeping your fuel probably 10 - 20 degrees cooler, but it'd probably not be worth it.
