your answer.......

---DIRTY FUEL INJECTORS---

the 5.0/5.8's efi system's fuel rails were not set up the best. the way they are mounted does not let them drain properly, collecting rust and a lot of other fun, surprising items that will build up over time. The best way to approach this problem-

-try a cleaner for sale at a auto parts store like lucas, but i prefer seafoam myself.

-if that does not work, the ford dealer sells a fuel injector cleaner, while on the pricey side, like 30 dollars a can, works well.

-if that fails to work, check the timing, fuel pressure, etc.

-if everything checks out, take it to get the fuel system serviced like i did with my 95 f150 with the same problem, have a mechanic put a new fuel filter on, clean out the injector rails and a good tune up never hurts. while on the pricey side, it will fix your problem, almost guaranteed.

hmmm... my first thought.

No codes... surging idle.

Look for a vacuum leak.

Haynes also mentions a plugged PCV valve as a possibility.
