<_< Hey everyone,

I've got an 89 with a 302 efi bolted to a 4 spd manuel trans. The idle likes to bounce up and down. I've had it too the shop several times they can't seem to get it.The computer has been changed twice, the engine is grounded in a couple of places. I'm getting tired of paying mechanics to tell me they can't figure it out. Any ideas out there????? What about the manifold temp sensor??? Please help any ideas will be appreciated.

thanks

P.S. I think you guys have talked me out of going big block. Any ideas on getting more torx out of a 302???

I just had mine worked on, with the same problem as yours, and it ended up being the egr valve would not shut entirely. My mech said he took off the sensor and manually pushed the plunger down and the idle corrected itself. You may want to try that. Also check for vacuum leaks, Idle Air Control Sensor, Throttle position sensor, and maybe Intake Manifold gasket nuts/ gasket. More than likely the computer is not the problem it is just getting erroneous information and can't pinpoint the idle. Have you had any codes from the EEc IV? <)

And for more power I would have to recomend the Hypertech Power module. It worked wonders on my 351!

I'll bet its the egr, mine workes nice during the winter and like crap during the summer. I think it has to do with humidity.

Clean the throttle body...mine idle did that too. Since I have cleaned the TB, no problems.
