i have a 94 bronco with a stock power sorce. i'm adding more off road lights. cb w/ loud speaker, external speakers and adding to my sound system including adding an amp. so to help with all my new toys i was thinking of adding a second batttery to help with the demand for power. only problem is i have no experience with that. i drew up a plan of what i think will work (picture attatched). but i want ya'lls criticism and pointers before i get started.

Elmo nailed it!

Unless you are looking to run the extra accessories while the truck os not running, I would check into a high output alternator, before an extra battery.

If the lights and such are something you only use off road, say for camping or such, then you need to wire them to a seperate battery that is for their use only. Like a trolling motor on a bass boat. then if you drain the battery, you still have a full charge on the starting battery.

Either way the high amp alternator is the first change you need.

Adding a battery also entails adding an isolator. Here's a good article to get started on:

How to Wire a Battery isolator

Careful planning of current draw and expected usage will help get a much more reliable power source(s). A bigger alternator is always a good idea in my opinion.

Isolate your circuits for your extra accessories so they do not burden the running system.

Even better: Wikipedia - battery isolator

God, I love Wikipedia!

Please add your truck vitals to your signature, it helps get more accurate answers. Take a look at this site for alternator and accessories http://rjminjectiontech.com/collections/alternators . Ryan is a wealth of information and also sells everything you will need.

Good luck,

:)>-
