yep I looked at them to, but the problem is that it will start (sometimes) or the pump will prime then not... sometimes I turn the key and the pump will start to prime them stop then start priming again.

its intermitted at times. a few times the truck started and ran for about 2 to 5 mins then shut off like turning off a switch ;o(

I just don't know what to do now????

Yo Bronco6194,

Welcome!

You have a 94 Bronco?

If so, Try a Self-Test for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC)s by my pal, BroncoJoe19 @

http://broncozone.com/topic/14269-code-reader/?pid=74587&mode=threaded

Some basics;

The engine temperature must be greater than 50° F for the Key On Engine Off (KOEO) Self-Test and greater than 180° F for the Key On Engine Running (KOER) Self-Test.

If you can, run it around to heat the engine up and shift thru all gears including Reverse.

Make sure A/C is off and transmission is in Park (automatic); or in Neutral for a Manual & release clutch.

Then turn off engine, all accessories/lights (close driver's door) , etc.

Do KOEO test First

Post Code(s) here according to:

KOEO

&

KOER

Or just THE KOEO if you can't get it heated to normal operating temperature.

****

Since you have a complex group of issues, a few other test are needed. For some tools check with local parts stores for the loan a tool program. Our former mom and pop stores would waive the high $ deposit because we were frequent customers. But chain stores usually ask for full refundable deposit.

How to Troubleshoot a No Start (Ford 4.9L, 5.0L, 5.8L). @

http://troubleshootmyvehicle.com/ford/4.9L-5.0L-5.8L/how-to-troubleshoot-a-no-start-1

Grounding the Fuel Pump (FP) lead at the Data Link Connector (DLC) DLC will allow the pump to run continuously with the ignition switch on. DLC location is shown in Self-Test article above.

...

You can try a Fuel Pump Relay Swap with Horn Relay to Test the FP Relay in case the relays are bad out of the box... BTW, use Bosch relays.

Make sure horn honks first.

If no change, replace FPR relay and swap horn and EEC (PCM Power Relay in wiring Diagram below) relays.

Fuel Pump Circuit Tests 92-93 4.9L, 5.0L, 5.8L)

http://troubleshootmyvehicle.com/ford/4.9L-5.0L-5.8L/fuel-pump-circuit-tests-1

***

FYI;

When the ignition is switched to the ON position, it turns the EEC Power Relay on. The EEC Power Relay provides power to the EEC-IV processor and the control side of the fuel pump relay. Power for the fuel pump is supplied through a high current fuse aka **** Fuse, attached . From the fuse link for high current fuse, current flow is through the fuel pump relay and Inertia Fuel Shutoff (IFS) switch to the fuel pump. The IFS switch is a safety device used to shut off the fuel pump in the event of a collision. If the IFS switch is "tripped," it must be reset by depressing the white or red button on the top of the switch. The fuel pump relay is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

When the ignition switch is turned to the ON position, the fuel pump will operate. If the ignition switch is not turned to the START position, the PCM will shut the fuel pump off after approximately one second. The PCM will operate the fuel pump when the ignition is in the START position to provide fuel while cranking.

After the engine starts, the PCM will continue to operate the fuel pump unless the engine stops, engine speed drops below 120 rpm, or the IFS switch is "tripped."

thanks Miesk5 I will go through all you posted. yes I do ... it's a 94 XLT 351W and thanks for the welcome! I'm in the military and sometimes it's hard to work on my truck because we have been very busy with all that is going on (you see on the news) so I only get a few hrs. a few times a week to work on it but I have to say this problem has me stumped. I have had many trucks before with different problem but this is a good one and as you can see from my first post I have bought many parts and replaced them. we have a auto club on base and i tried to get help with this but it has a lot of the boys are confused because of the way it acts, sometimes the truck will run but only for a few mins then stop like someone has turned off the key then other times the pump will start to prime then stop and other times it won't prime at all and I don't get spark so the coil is not engaging. well I got some time right now so I will head out to the garage to try some of what you posted...thanks buddy, get back to you soon.

cheers!

Yo,

OK, I understand your free time constraints.

The self test for codes is most important test.

How long have you had this Bronco?

PCM REMOVAL in 92 through 96 Bronco by bossind from Burton, Canada with some comments by jowens (I may have some pics out- of-order):

dsc_0034.jpg

The best way to do this is through the drivers side wheel well by loosening the plastic inner fender as shown.

Remove the first 4 or 5 screws holding the Inner Fender on. You will want to be able to flex the inner fender downward to clear the EEC as it is removed. I used a 3 foot section of 2x4 to push straight down on the inner fender just in front of the relay box. If you push hard enough the inner fender will flex down enough so you can pull the PCM out.

dsc_0035.jpg

Pulling back the plastic inner fender you will have access to the computer harness, this requires a 10mm socket to remove. Next you remove 2-11mm nuts on PCM rubber gourmet, remove the grommet and pull out the PCM.

dsc_0040.jpg

The rubber grommet, notice the marking for "top".

dsc_0044.jpg

Reinstall the grommet, nuts and tighten down the harness

dsc_0046.jpg

Use a T15 torx bit to remove the PCM cover and inspect it for burns & leaking Capacitors. See http://broncozone.com/topic/20788-fuel-delivery-problem/

PCM Removal, part deux

from 96 Bronco-F-Series Workshop Manual (PARTIAL) by FORD via

http://www.diesel-dave.com/vehic/manual/stj/stjleft.htm

same as most earlier years especially 92-96, except for:

92 through 95 uses the Electronic Engine Control, version Four (EEC-IV, aka On Board Diagnostics (OBD-I)) engine management computer

96 uses the OBD-II (EEC-V) engine management computer;

4WABS (93-96);

RABS (87-92);

Air Bag (94-96);

3 ***** Automatic Locking Hubs (Built from May 95 through 96); Spark Plug Wire Routing & Firing Order (The firing order for 1987-1993 5.0Ls is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8. The firing order for 1994- 96 5.0Ls & all 5.8Ls is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8.);

R134a in 94-96;

2-piece Spindle Rolling Diaphragm Seal (RDS) used on 5/95 to 96 Broncos & F Series 1/2-ton 4WD;

Mass Air Flow in 95 5.8 California models and in all 96s, other years used Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor (MAP).

96 5.8 do not have the Air Injection (AIR), Secondary Air Injection; Pump (Smog Pump), Thermactor Air Bypass (TAB) & Thermactor Air Diverter (TAD) Solenoids; Diverter, Check & Bypass Valves, Cross-Over Tube, etc. But 96 5.0 does have the system.

The 96, Vapor Management Valve (VMV) replaces the canister purge valve (CanP valve) used in EEC IV.

The Speed Control Deactivation Switch (SCDS) in a 93 Bronco is located on the driver side frame rail, but in 94 through 96 it is on the master cylinder.

Still researching other differences.

...

For ordering a PCM,

Check the Calibration Code & Ford Part Number on the PCM;

Location pic; on PCM in a 95 5.8; with Ford Part Number

by marnefist

Then look at Calibration Label Sticker on driver's door jamb and compare

Good luck!

Yo,

I forgot about the sway bars.

The sway bars are there to keep highway sway under control. They impede suspension flex, though, and are typically a hinderance for rock-crawlers, etc.

Some who have removed them claim no negative effects on highways at speed, while others claim increased roll or sway on Highway.

So, see Chris B's Sway Bar Disconnects at bottom of this reply.

Ford describes it as the Front stabilizer bar (5482); transmits forces to control vehicle roll during cornering.

Rear Stabilizer Bar Transmits force to control vehicle roll during cornering. Resists lateral movement.

Other suspension parts affect roll, such as in Front Suspension:

Sway or Roll

Unequal load distribution (side to side).

Excessive load or body height.

CORRECT as necessary.

Incorrect tire pressure.

ADJUST air pressure in tires.

Loose lug nuts.

TIGHTEN to specifications.

Worn or loose stabilizer assembly.

TIGHTEN or REPLACE as required. REFER to Section 04-01A, Section 04-01B or Section 04-02.

Broken or sagging spring.

REPLACE as required.

Incorrect steering gear adjustment.

ADJUST to specifications. REFER to Section 11-02B or Section 11-02D.

Loose steering gear mounting.

TIGHTEN to specifications.

Excessive front or rear overhang.

CORRECT as necessary.

Broken toe bolts on rear spring.

REPLACE as required.

***

in Rear Suspension:

Body Rolls;

Weak stabilizer bar.

REPLACE stabilizer bar.

Worn or deteriorated stabilizer bar bushing(s).

REPLACE stabilizer bar bushing(s).

Worn or deteriorated shock/strut.

REPLACE shock/strut assembly.

Body Leans

Weak rear spring.

REPLACE rear spring.

Worn or deteriorated stabilizer bar bushing(s).

REPLACE stabilizer bar bushing(s).

Abnormal Noise from Suspension System

Looseness of peripheral connections.

TIGHTEN the peripheral connections.

Worn or deteriorated shock.

REPLACE shock.

Worn or deteriorated stabilizer bar bushing(s).

REPLACE stabilizer bar bushing(s).

General Driving Instability

Worn or deteriorated shock.

REPLACE shock assembly.

Worn or deteriorated stabilizer bar bushing(s).

REPLACE stabilizer bar bushing(s).

Improperly adjusted wheel alignment.

ADJUST wheel alignment. REFER to Section 04-00.

Damaged or unbalanced wheel(s).

CHECK wheel balance. BALANCE if necessary. REFER to Section 04-04.
