I have an 88 bronco with auto hubs. I want to swap to manuals, but i noticed that the drivers side has 5 torx srews and the passenger has 3. Which ones should be on an 88? Does anyone know what years they used which type? Is it possible that someone changed the hubs without changing anything(and really screwing me when i try to swap to manual)? Thanks in advace.

Well the 5 bolt are the older ones 87 to 91 and the 3 bolt are the newer style 92 to 95 . In order to convert either to manual you just take the hub off then theres a very big c shaped ring just inside the edge of the hub you have to take that out too then theres a snap ring on the stub axle and that needs to be taken off . Now put one of the screws that held the hub on back into the internal hub and wiggle it around pulling toward you and the inner hub will come out . Now look back in the hole and you will see the wheel hub retaining nuts some say they dont need to be changed some do but I say put the manual style lockout axle nuts on it no matter what because then you know the wheel isnt coming off and the guy that wants to argue that they dont need to be changed isnt going to be there to pay the bills when and if the wheel ever did come off so if you put the correct stuff on then you will have no troubles . The conversion kits they sell to do this are nothing mor than the original 2 nuts one with a pin sticking out of it and the special washer that has holes all around it for the pin to lock into . These kits sell for like $50 a side I believe and that is way too much so I would find an old axle to get them off of and save a bunch of money . If you want more of the autolocking hubs in the 5 bolt variety I have a bunch of them if your interested . If you want to swith to manuals the warn standard ones are fine and run about $60 bucks or so . Then find the axle nuts and youll be all set . Hope this helps :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

How much would you want for one of the autolockers? The bad one on mine is the one with three bolts. Can the 5 bolters replace the ones with 3? If so, i'll probably just replace the bad one.

I swapped my auto hubs on my 95 and had no problems at all got the hubs and conversion kit from 4 Wheel Parts for around $120.00 swapped it out in an hour and a half and that was just cause I spent most of the time on the first side making sure I did it right. The conversion kit is just the two spanner nuts and washer which is needed on the three torx style. the only problem I had was getting a spanner nut socket that fit, 4 Wheel Parts didn't have one. but all in all it was super easy to do
