I have a 1993 Bronco 5.0L 123Kmiles

I have changed the plugs, dist cap/rotor, and wires. It seems to be running fine/ a little ruff with the check engine light comming on when I excellerate. I do have a a massive exaust leak of some kind which makes me lightheaded when I drive. I checked the tailpipe and muffler, which seems to be attached, but easily moves around when I examined it. When I put my hand in front of the pipe, barely any exaust comes out. Could the cat converter be plugged? Can I cut it off and put just the exahust pipe and muffler on? would it be easier to take it some where and how much would this cost?

I was thinking about making the repairs myself, however, I do not have any experience welding, or the torch for that matter.

Help!

Sounds like you should replace tbhe entire exhaust system. It is a dooable thing and I would suggest that you put a cat on it to make it emissions legal. the tough part might be the bolts that hold the exhaust on to the manafold. If the system is real old, they are probably well rusted. Often it takes heating the area around those bolts with a torch in order to get them out without snapping them off.

If you do the job yourself, replace the above mentioned (most likely studs and nuts instead of bolts). Then again you might want to let a muffler shop have all the fun :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> .

Good luck,

:)>-

I've been told that might be the problem, it seems pretty easy to replace, seeing that i can get under there, are there any tips or tricks I should know when replacing the o2 sensor?

My only problem with Broncos is when I'm driving on the highway with the back window down, the airflow sucks exhaust fumes back into the cab. Kind of a bummer, considering I have no cat. in my exhaust, so I get a lot of exhaust fumes @-)

If your exhaust comes by the wheel that will help, but I had to add a air diverter to the top to make the air flow down the rear and push the exhaust away from the window.
