I just got this truck a month ago (by the way its for sale) I want to give it life and sell it to ride out some more of its short life in this gasless world we live in... Well Its has a holley carb someone put on it and HAD no kickdown return springs. It would not return from WOT. Ok now I'm a EFI guy so this is new territory. A couple rubber bands later from work and I was riding nice... well I did research and ordered to hardware from holley. It has the spring perch and a spring and an adjustment *****. Ok when i installed it seems the kickdown rod is too long cause with it installed like the pics and instructions... the rod is all the way back in WOT or at least close cause now it shifts hard again like before I put rubberbands to pull it back. Now I was hoping someone had this problem, all i can think is to shorten the kick down rod. As it is there is no adjustment to the rod length wise, i guess this is right cause stock carb you were just able to adjust when it picked up. Well its a 1981 302 with a 4 bbl holley part#80457 600 cfm or 650 cfm. Model 4160 i think? Thanks guys , well I miss my efi 302, its waiting for a rear...

My original 4180 4BBL needed a spring to help the kick down to return. I don't have that problem with the 4160. There was an issue with the kick down rod and I took one off a donor F250.

Good luck,

:)>-
