Help!!

( Well, I screwed up big time & snapped an exhaust bolt off in the head of my 95 351W when removing the left side manifold. the remaing 1/2 of the bolt is just under the head surface. All the other bolts came out OK & all had an anti siezure compound on them, but this one didn't work. I soaked them all in liquid wrench beforehand. Does anybody have any tricks, or realitivley easy solutions for removing the broken bolt [-o< before I have to take my truck to a shop. Also On the right side all but 2 bolts came out ok, and I'm gun shy now trying to get the last 2 out without breaking them. Any suggestions would be welcome. I don't want to have to pull the head, or motor

HMMMMMM well pretty much your screwed . There isnt enough room to get a drill in there anywher and drill a straight hole in the center of the bolt to get an easy out in there . Only thing I can think of would be to get the motor unbolted from the frame mounts and lift it up as high as you can get it to possible be able to get a drill started straight . It can be done without pulling the motor completely out but you have to be very very careful because you only have one chance . If you dont feel comfortable doing it in the body I would pull the motor the rest of the way out so you can get at the bolt straight . Some people are goona say just pull the head but a good felpro head gasket and intake gaskets are goona cost you around $80 but if you pull the motor its just your time and patience . If you can run a drill you can do this job . just make sure its center punched so its dead center and you drill straight worst case is you take a 5/16 drill bit and drill it out completely, get all the bolt out then carefully run a 3/8 - 16 tap in the hole to recut the threads . I would run the tap through all the holes again to clean up the threads then after you put it all back in before you start those NEW bolts in the holes Id give them a bath in antiseize the high temp copper based stuff , SHould be good to go from there . /emoticons/biggrin@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Hmmm, ...why were you removing the exh. ......??

Liquid wrench is pretty much worthless except for mama to use around the house. Use "PB Blaster" or the like. (Autozone)

I'm "8 for 8" now with easy-outs BUT, I've also broken my share. I would soak the remaining two with PB Blast. for a couple days.

I would remove head & prob. let a machine shop handle it. If the other two come loose then only one head has to come off. /emoticons/tongue@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Check this out..! Some mach. shops have a piece of equipment that actually "explodes" the broke-off piece down in the hole.... somehow crystalizes it but no affect to main part. /emoticons/wink@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Thanks, I'll see if anyone near here carries PB blaster. I got 1 of the right side bolts out ok, but the other one is stubborn. I'm gonna try the easyout method first [-o< . I have to remove the steering shaft to make room for the drill. Thanks for your suggestions!
