If it is still there, there should be a procedure for setting up the carb next to the emissions vacuum diagram located on the radiator support. It will look like the attached picture. Do the entire procedure. I suspect that the hot idle is not properly set, but it can't be set properly without making sure the other adjustments are OK. You don't indicate if you have automatic or standard shift transmission. If it is automatic the RPM setting for hot idle in neutral will be around 1500 RPM. If it is a standard, around 550 RPM. To adjust it, you will have to adjust till it won't stall when put in drive or reverse. Take it out for a spin and check for stalling when putting the brakes on or stopped in gear at a light or stop sign. If it feels like it is going to stall adjust the hot idle ***** about 1/4 turn at a time to increase the idle to a point where it feels comfortable.
The procedure will vary so follow the instructions on the sticker under your hood.
