I've tried to search but am having issues...the problem I'm having is that my heater only blows hot air. If I slide the **** to the cool side nothing happens it just continues with the same "super heated" air.

What gives? I know with winter coming and all, but to much heat is just too much!!!!

Any thoughts?

What year truck ? On the 80 to 86 models the heater contrls are cable operated meaning there is an actual cable attached to the back of the slide control and it runs out to move the damper on the 87 to 96 models the controls are vacuum operated so If I were you and you have a later model one I would look around over by the heater box on the firewall in the engine compartment fo a black vacuum hose about 3/8 in diameter and make sure its plugged in . Hope that helps :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

thanks blade I'll look for a vacuum hose. I have an '88 XLT.

Edit:

Well I pulled the heater control panel out of the dash and low and behold the end of the cable housing that is supposed to be attached to the assembly was not attached at all. So everytime I would adjust the temperature in the truck the whole shebang would move instead of the cable itself. Problem now is that the little plastic piece at the end of the cable, that is used to attach temperature control cable to the heater panel assembly is busted off (reason for it hanging) I have to either see if there is a way of a "home fix'n" or if this is repairable with replacement parts.

hmmm

Now I have a new dilema...when I pulled the the heater control panel out from the dash I was able to get the heater to blow air through the lower ducts. When I put the whole unit back into the dash it no longer blows air out the lower ducts unless you put the selector to mix. So is there a possiblity that the cable coming off the selector is too long? Or am I way off base here?

Side note I tried to use zip ties to fasten the cable housing for the temperature control to the heater control assembly, but that is a no go...

hmmmmm

Well, I was going to suggest zip ties since I have the same problemand zip ties worked. I used two and made an X pattern to hold it in place. It works just fine.

the duct control works the same and is connected just under the dash on the right side.

Good luck,

:)>-
