All fuses have been checked. The high-beam light previously illuminated when the light switch was pulled all the way out; which does not turn on anymore. Noticed this purple wire with white stripe and an odd attachment on it. This wire exits the black bundle of wires behind the light switch. Anyone have any clues where this needs to be connected or what I should do to fix the problem?

Thanks,

Brian

The purple/white wire runs from the ignition switch to the low brake switch, then to the instrument cluster printed circuit connector.

It appears to be connected to something broken.

Guess you have to get under that dash and take a good look.

Let us know for future readers.

Good Luck

yo,

Just in case, Seabronco posted quite a few 83 diagrams here @ http://broncozone.com/topic/13341-wiring/

Fred wrote; "...The attached diagrams are for a 1983..."

from Fuse block to Light Switch (INCLUDES DIMMER) & Ign Switch

And Fred has Ignition Switch Pin-Out Diagram & Continuity Testing in an 83

Steve83 has one for an 84 that is sim to your 83; shows PPL/WHT as Ron Desribed

I've removed the dash checked all the wires aswell as headlight wires in the engine compartment. Replaced headlight sockets and plan to change out headlight switch under dash. All bulbs and fuses are good. At the moment only the passengers side works on low-beam for the front lights. Front signals do not work. Rear signals/brakes/backup/lisence plate work. Side markers both work.. Noticed when I pull the headlight switch into the high beam position the light comes on very dimly on the instrument cluster high bean indicator light. Replaced the bulb and the same thing happens turn the high beams on and it turns the indicator light on very dim.. Is this a symptom of a bad headlight switch or could it be another issue?

Thanks for all the help!

Check the ground connection on each side of the engine compartment. Remove and clean the lugs and the surface they mate to. You will find one next to and in front of the overflow reservoir and one on the opposite side in the same location in front of the start solenoid. They are the grounds for the headlight and signals.

Good luck,
