headers?

my girl got me headers for christmas but i think she got the wrong ones cuz there is no hook up for my egr but do i even need to have that hooked up for it to run properly and it that dosent work what headers should i get?

i think there is a part you can get to bypass that and make the check engine light go off , i think because i bought some long tube headers for my mustang a while back and got the bypass and all it does it make the check engine light from comming on, it doesnt afect the running conditons if that what your talkin about i could be wrong so dont take all of my advice until you get some other opnions

The EGR is stricktly there for emission purposes at road speed the valve opens and allows exhaust gasses to be entered into the combustion chamber to cool the combustion temps( kinda ass backwards to improve performance ) They do this because the government mandated it years ago because the lower combustion temps produce fewer emisions which supposedly helped some foreing tree toad that ended up here stuck to the bottom of a fruit container from growing a 5th leg . ( I Made that last part up but its my story ) Anyway Yes it can come off and yes there is stuff to trick the computer into thinking that everything is ok ( fordfuelinjection.com ) I took all mine off and it runs very well . If your worried about the eviroment then go pick trash off the side of the road for a few days . That will have more benefit than what its going to hurt to run your car without an EGR valve because if you think about it how many little shit box cars are driving around havent had any maintenance done to them since they were new . Smog pump went bad couldnt afford to get it fixed so took it off , egr rusted shut so doesnt work anyway , check engine light came on couldnt afford to take it in so tore dash off and removed bulb , and finally because of poor maintenance valve guides are shot and its bellowing blue smoke everywhere . Worrying about the enviroment is great but its getting out of hand did you know breathing has been found to cause cancer now LOL The way I see it most of the country doesnt have any emissions checks and most of the population is at or just above the poverty line so my previous statements hold some truth . So most that are interested in taking that stuff off are interested in performance of the vehicle so the engine is in top shape kept in tune and Id almost bet would pass a sniffer test with a better score than a little shit box chimney . /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

i knew they had one cause i had to by one for my mustang but i wasnt sure for a bronco ....i did it to keep the check engine light from commin on no so much as for the preformance but i can see what your sayin

Yeah what I said is just my opinion though some will say that they have to be there for many reasons such as legality , responcibility to the environment , because the tree toad shouldnt have 5 legs and such but everyone is entitled to there opinion , Me I will continue to take that junk off if I feel the need and will continue to keep my engines in top running shape so that the emissions produced are at a minimum . /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

hahaaha i feel yah on the pickin up garbage on the side of the road if you want to protect the enviroment ,,, cause every vehicle i get i take off the smog and plug the holes in the heads ... right after i get it inspected though...lol.... and i want to kick my cats as well thats one of the dumbiest thing made

Hey: about the headers , I bought some shortys acctuly for a mustang but they have the hole plug built into the header.the only thing you need to find or have a Ypipe made. the stockYpipe won't fit the headers Hope that helps good luck
