I'm having a little problem here. When i start from a dead stop, it feels like my rear brakes are hanging up. I replaced everything from the backing plate foward(everything rear brake related). This did not fix the problem, even though they were needed. So then i thought that maybe it was old/worn rear shocks, so i got Gabriel Ultra's for the rear. This also did'nt fix the problem. Now that i have driven the truck awhile, it almost feels like the rear end is shifting, but i put the bronco on my lift at work, and nothing seemed loose/worn.

So....

when at a light, and i start to take off, the back of the truck dip's down a little and i feel a popping. If i take off real slow, it does'nt do it. While driving it does'nt do it. Any suggestions?

You may be experiencing spring wrap. That can be caused by weak rear springs or over sized tires. If you stomp it, does it sound like someone is beating on the underside of the truck?

I had that same feeling in mine. It was the Double Cardan Joint on the driveshaft. Mines totally fixed now, I thought I would never solve that one. A friend of mine had a Chevy 4x4, his was doing that too. I told him mine was the driveshaft, in his case it was an internal transfercase problem and he replaced it. Solved his, I would look at the Driveshaft then if thats not it Maybe your t-case

No, it don't sound like beating under it, it feels like to a broken motormount, but in the rear, if that makes any sense. I was reading somewhere on the forum, that i could mark the driveshaft, remove it, grease it, and that may solve my problem. I guess that's the next step. Someone else suggested a trans mount, but would'nt i feel that like under my seat, or in that general area? I can clearly feel the problem in the rear of the truck, so i don't think the t-case is the issue. Those Cardan joints is a good idea to look at also. Are they exspensive? Do i need them pressed in?

Yes definately try greasing the slip joint on the driveshaft, I forgot about that. That has cured a few guys problems on here, I didnt know about that, I had a spare driveshaft so I put it in.

You might want to check the rear spring bushings I had a problem with my 95 when ever I took off from a light or a dead stop it would make a clunking sound almost like the rear brakes were locked up But found out it was the rear springs and bushings I put new 4" lift springs and bushings on and the noise and clunking sound went away Hope this Helps Good Luck

Well, i checked drive shaft/cardan joints, they checked out good. I also checked the spring shackles for proper movement, and checked the condition of the bushings, all seemed good. What i did notice was the little plastic spacers missing from in between the springs. Do these matter? Or better yet, would it cause this hanging up to happen? The only possibility i can think of, is weak springs and it making the rear spring hinge bottom out where it attaches to the truck(the back spring hinge, that pivots). Does this make any sense?

When you solve it, could you please post your findings, It would be a great help for someone else that might come across the problem
