HELLO,

MY OIL GUAGE AT RADOM AT IDLE WILL DROP TO ZERO. IT HAPPENS MOST WHEN A/C IS ON.WHEN IT HAPPENS THE MOTOR DOES NOT CHANGE SOUNDS

IT ONLY FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS AND IT RETURNS TO NORMAL RANGE.

NOW TEMP GUAGE AND VOLT GUAGE GO CRAZY WHEN THE AIR IS ON ALSO.ALL GUAGES APPEAR TO READ NORMAL UNTIL AIR IS TURNED ON THEN THEY SEEM TO READ HIGH OR LOW BUT THE OIL PRESSURE GUAGE SEEMS TO BE DOING IT WITH THE AIR OFF

ANY IDEAS

THANKS TURK

The most likely problem is with the instrument panel voltage regulator. It is a Zippo lighter size device on the back of the panel. The voltage regulator runs all three of the gagues you are talking about. The Oil pressure gague could be the sender unit but in this case I'd still suspect the regulator. What year truck do you have?

Good luck,

:)>-

Sorry to misslead you, but it looks like they stopped using that type device in 87. The 92 EVTM swhows that they have a common connection but it doesn't show where the connection goes. I suspect that it is an electronic version of the old style.

The same happened to me. The volteg reg in the back of the instrument panel was the problem. the only bad thing is is that ford dosent make the instrument cluster like that any more and you cannot get a volteg reg from the ford dealer.
