I have a good fuel pump, I pulled it and check it to be sure. However, it isn't running. I thought it would be the relay so i replaced it and the fuel pump is still not working. I'm guessing that from the relay to the pump something is fouled up... Am I on the right track?, any suggestions?

Yes you are on the right track,

Check that you have 12 volts back there, and check your ground to it.

You may also want to take a look at this thread for some addtional details.

good luck.

You should edit your signature file so that we know what year truck, size engine, type of ignition, and whether it is fuel injected, or carbed.

I would assume that you are talkin bout the high pressure fuel pump that is on the frame rail under the drivers door if that is the case there should be a loose wire under the hood right in front of the drivers side right in the area of the inner fender well backside (should be yellow) that looks like it should connect into something atleast my '86 has one in it. this wire is to test the fuel pump and you should be able to hear the pump kick on by inserting the wire into your fuel pump relay switch if nothing happens i would start checking grounds and other wires leading off the pump you could possibly have a wire short somewhere that is making so that it wont start up. I hope this helps I definately know what you are going through just had some fuel issues myself.

Good Luck and Happy Muddin'
