What do you mean by "roll". If you mean mechanically via crank, NO. If you mean does it go up and down, definately YES.

Mine only goes up and down because I make it. 2 motors, 2 switches and the glass itself. I think I am getting pretty good at fixing it

I voted "no" but it does roll down just fine. The thing doesn't roll up for crap. Its a constant source of annoyment. There are a couple of contributing factors. Its a 94 with 250,000 miles on it. And the dust out here in the desert just wears everything out. Oh well, but what ya gonna do? I simply love this ole truck.

Mine still works, but I'm thinking of removing the glass all together since I'm always *******. I only work it now and then to **** the tracks and regulator, prolly should take out that excess weight as well!!!

mine works with the key in the tailgate and by the switch on the dash but the deepest mud hole it has seen is the potholes on the side streets. so I voted yes if my vote would even count.

when i got my 79 the gate wouldnt even latch nothing worked, i got the latches and switch from a 78 that was recently crushed :(( , and some wiring from an early 80s. it now workes but needs help going up into the hardtop usually but i voted yes. i also sandblasted the inside and bedlined it so it still might have grit in there too though. the hardest part was getting all the nasty purple 80s tint off!

there should be a "yes, sort of" answer or "most of the time"... ******* is the only way to go though- cheaper in the long run

Yup. Mine works good - after taking apart about 6 times, replacing the weatherstip on the top of the tailgate, reversing the glass channel weatherstrip (so it wears on the previously un-worn places), bypassing the lockout switch with a splice connector, adjusting the window actuator (straightening some of the latch handle mechanism to correct the damage some gorrilla inflicted 'cause he didn't understand the workings and thought if you pulled harder you could get things to work anyway), and fixed the pinched wires where they had been caught in the edge of the tailgate, and greased the actuator wear points. One down, forty leben dozen to go.
