Wow, this is a great site, im lovin it. Has anyone ever put a pickup truck gas tank in a bronco? My 87 is leaking bad, and I was wanting to put a 19 gal tank in it out of an 87 truck to gain some much needed ground clearance. I dont see why it wouldn't work, being the same model year. Anybody knoiw more about this than me? I'd appreciate the help.

I'm not sure if a tank out of an f-150 would fit or not and why would you want to go from a 32 gallon tank to a 19 gallon tank.

I have no doubt that i can make it fit, I was just unsure if the pump and sender will work. I'm thinking a 19gal because of ground clearance. I'm willing to give up a few miles per tank top not bash the tank on every rock and stump I drive over.

Drop your tank and measure there the pump gos in the tank at. It should be either 2 1/2 or 3 inches and i am gonna guess yours is 3 inches. If they are both the same then you will be fine. But what about the depth of the pump in the tank and the filter down in there and everything, you may come across a problem there.

i planned on getting a used tank and pickup assembly, cause im willing to bet that this one wont fit in that one. i just wasnt sure if the truck pump and sender is the same as the bronco.

Only difference betweent he two is if the f-150 has 2 tanks or not, because if it has 2 tanks they have a pump in each tank then a pump on the frame. Thats pretty much the only difference.

weigh your options first!!!!!i dont think it would be that hard to swap though! just get more lift! then you wont hit those rocks and stumps...lol that would be my solution to the clearance you need. just my 2 cents.

If its the same year tank so that the pump and sender plug matches up and the fuel line connection is the same your all set you can not use the bronco sender and pump in an f150 tank because it is too long due to the tank being deeper . But if the connections match up your all set . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I found out that my tank has a 2" hole, ands the f-150's use the 3". No problem except those f-150 tanks are very hard to come by. ie, nobody intown had one. Had no problem getting another bronco tank though. Already had plans to make my own 2" lift for free. Does anyone sell coil spring spacers before i make my own?

Welcome to the Zone! >

Quick math here @ 9 MPG:

19 Gallon tank = 153 miles per tank &

32 Gallon tank = 270 miles per tank.

117 mile difference.

I know I wouldn't make the change but that is up to you.

thanks! those spacers are perfect, and cheap! Got to install those, and flip the shackles and give those 33's some breathing room. Couldn't get a truck tank and sender, so I ended up putting a used bronco tank back in. Will put up pics next week, after she's lifted. Next will be a six inch for my '79 f150.
