I have been visting the form for some time now. I notice that there is a vast wealth of knowlge in this form So Iwanted to join and learn how too keep my bronco running. I have a 90 E.B.

My question to the club is......

Do you cut a hole in the rear to axcess the fuel pump? or drop the tank? . The darn thing will not get gas to the engine. It was running then she shut down. I didn't hear the pump running so I guess that is the problem. Is there anything else it could be?

i would check all the wiring first, then drop the tank. It's a PITA, but you don't risk a loose spark blowing your face and arm off. While it's out you can cut an access panel into the floor and make a bolt on cover for it to make it easier to get to next time.

Guess Brad said it all :)) . Check out the inertia switch that is located under the dash while you are at it. They sometimes fail in a wierd fassion that causes them to work/fail intermittently. That is the little black box with a button sticking out of it. It's purpose is to prevent a fire in the event of an accident.

Good luck,

After the inertia switch check there should be a wire connection at the top of the tank towards the front. Unplug that & see if you have any current. If you do it's time for a pump. If things are rusted it's not to bad but check to see what kind of connections you have on the fuel lines Ford seems to use 3 different kinds & if you have what they call a duck bill clip you'll need a special tool to disconnect the lines. Or end up with the tank dangling from the lines not much fun then. The basic instructions that come with the pumps will get you done from there. Also try to get the rubber O ring to lay flat or you will get to do this all over agin when you fill up & have a leak, don't ask how I know

Your fuel pump may be on the outside. Mine was between the filter and the tank. The filter is on the driver's side protected by a metal plate with two screws on one side and the plate is bent up over it. Follow that line to the back and the next cylinder is the fuel pump. I could check my Chilton's, but it might take me a little while to get around to it.

I believe on your truck it is on the passenger side near the right foot. It has a button on it to reset it.

Its me again There seams to be no power to the fuel pump.

I checked the relay on the driverside fender well it's good, also the inertia

is good, but she wont start up. Is there a way I can jump start

the pump? Or am I missing something else? Any other suggetions SeaBronc?

Do you have a volt meter ? You need to check to see if you have 12V or not. If you have 12V at the pump then it is the pump. If not, you need to go back on the circuit to find out where you do have it.

there should be a dianostic connector on the drivers side front fender near the fire wall. its kind of an odd shaped 5 sided plug connection, there should be 6 pins in there the one on the short side of the pentangle is a pin that you can use to test the fuel pump. connect a jumper wire to that terminal & listen for the pump to engage this needs to be done with the key in the run position.

from the sounds of it you didn't have any voltage at the connector near the tank? this is pretty low voltage back there with the key in the on position the test light will just barely glow.

The voltaqe back there should be 12V for the pump, There is nothing betyween the fuse and the connection to the pump except a relay point, the inertia switch contact and pincinnections in connectors. If it is under 12V then start cleqaning connectors to get rid of any high resistance connections.
