Hey guys gota a question about fuel pumps i have 88 with 351w and my fuel pump went out problem is i have an external fuel pump now it is mounted on the frame infront of the fuel filter. Everone is telling me that i should have an internal fuel pump for my bronco. The auto parts stores say i should have internal also. Advance auto parts does have one external fuel pump that is same as mine and it is the only external fuel pump they have for the truck. So should i get internal or just replace the external pump and what did they come with factory?

Your 88 Bronco has 2 fuel pumps. The one inside the gas tank is part of the sending unit assembly ($120), it's the low-pressure pump. The external pump on the frame rail is the high-pressure one. Hopefully that is the one that's out, because you'll have to drop the tank to change the other one. You should also check the relay and wiring for the pumps, as that will make you think a pump is bad. If you want to do this yourself, get a Haynes or Chilton manual. It will tell you all about it and the "inertia switch" on your fuel injected motor. You need to relieve the line pressure before working on your fuel system. You also have some tricky hose clamps/connectors to deal with.
