Ok so I just had an epiphany. I thought I'd ask could the fact that my vacuum lines are GONE be the problem with pulling fuel from the tank. I used a gas can and just ran a line straight to it and it will run. So maybe not enough vacuum is the problem?

in an 82 vacuum has nothing to do with the fuel supply, " I used a gas can and just ran a line straight to it and it will run." I assume you mean you ran it straight to the carburetor? if you disconnect your fuel line from the carburetor while the engine is spinning you should have fuel gushing out.

if that's not the case then you can disconnect the fuel line from the fuel pump and from the gas tank and using an air nozzle blow air through it to ensure it is clear of debris and try it again. same with the fuel line from the carburetor to the fuel pump.

if that doesn't work I would look at either the fuel pump or the pickup in the tank. to test the fuel pump connect the rubber hose that you had into the gas can and see if it pulls gas out of the can when the engine is spinning, (maybe try that first).

Oh wow I feel stupid. Yea I just plugged the vacuum line connections to keep stuff out. It runs fine now. My main problem was somehow my choke was backwards so I had to wire it open.
