The other day my wifes bronco quit running like it ran out of gas. This happened once before in my old bronco so I replaced the fuel pump relay and it fired right up. On my way to work today it happened again starts sputtering like it is starving for fuel then just dies. The fuel pump is not turning on so i replace the relay again and just like before it fired right up and i was on my way. Anyone have any ideas why this is going on? I am thinking my pump may be failing and making the relay short out. Any help would be great. Thanks

Jay,

In response to this question I wrote up a little ditty on how to test the fuel pump relay.

It is quite possible that both of your relays are good, and that you have a bad connection that is slightly improved by pulling and replaceing your relay. Check your connections.

You may have a bad ground, or loose wire to the pump, and it may have been a coincidence that it started after you replaced the relay.

If you need more help, we have addressed similar issues before. Let us know... and by the way. Welcome to BroncoZone!

Ok all conections are good and i waited untill the truck died again. I pulled the relay and checked it. It checks out ok. Waited awhile put it back in truck fired back up. It seems as long as it is a cool day it runs fine but when it's hot it seems like a vapor lock if you let the truck sit for awhile it will start back up. Fuel pump ?
