Fuel Injection System 1987 Bronco

Recently replaced the fuel injectors with Accel Fuel Injectors and I replaced the fuel pressure regulator with an Accel regulator on my bronco. I have a 1987 with a brand new 302 5.0 EFI engine. This engine is ready to be started for the first time once I have set the fuel pressure. There is a valve on the fuel rail that accomodates a fuel test gauge. I am looking for the pressure that I should be reading at the test gauge before starting the engine and then with the engine running. Any ideas or experience with this...looking for suggestions and/or tips.

If you unplug the vacuum line that goes to the regulator you should see between 30 and 40 lbs at the guage plugging the vaccum line back in you will see a drop because it sends more fuel back to tank at an idle . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

The pressure with the engine off should be 35-45 psi. With the engine running it should be 30-45 psi. If you want to make sure the regulator is working correctly with the engine running and the gauge still conected to the fuel rail, take the vacuum hose off and the pressure should drop about 5-10 psi. That is all that comes straight from a service manual. Just make sure you break the engine in properly, and it will last you forever. Or close to forever.

The service manual says that if you take the vacuum line off the pressure will drop ?????????? Please scan and post . Taking the line off doesnt allow it to return very much to tank which will cause the pressure to go up same as when you mat the gas and the vacuum falls off increases the fuel pressure . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Yep you're right BLADE, mis-print or something. Did i get the pressures right?

Yes the pressure is correct . My 89 was hard to start had to cycle the key many times acted like a carb you had to pump the shit out of . Once started found the pressure to be correct further investigation found the supply low pressure pump in the tank was dead and the high pressure one in frame rail after cycling the key would catch prime and pull the fuel through the dead one . Had the right pressure but when you did a volume test on it it didnt have near enough . I had to unplug the high pressure one to be able to listen to the intank low pressure to see if it was working . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
