Do you need some kind of a special tool to change the fuel filter on a '96 with a 351? I'm afraid I'll pull the fittings off the end of the fuel lines if I pull any harder on them.

Yes you do. The fuel line disconect tool is a sort of collar that fits around the male end of the line then you slide it towards the fitting. The tool slips in side the female end and releases the holding mechanism. You can get them at any parts store or sears. I have this set from Sears that includes different sizes for the other stuff on your vehicle that uses this type of connector.

spray alot of PB Blaster on it and twist the fittings a bit as well as the tool mentioned by Roadkill I hate those damn things almost as bad as the quick disconnect tranny lines on newer GM trucks

Yeah hate those things, too. There are so many other quick disconect designs out there that don't require any tools at all. Or they could have stuck with the good old hose clamp! :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

That thing is called a spring-lock coupling, and they also used it on one of the a/c lines. I found that out last month when I was replacing all my lines. You can buy the set Roadkill talked about, or there is a real cheapie set at Oreilly auto for less than ten bucks. I, too, hate that damn coupling.
