fuel canister

my 74 has a fuel canister w/ the oil type filter. would like to just junk that and go with a in line filter closer to the frame will this be a problem? if not what filter should i use?

I think it would matter how old and what condition your gas tanks are in. If they are old I would stay with the canister filter but if they are in good condition then I would go with a 3/8 inline filter. The ones that are about the size of a smal can of V8 tomato juice.
